popularity.

Popularity is such a weird subject. As much as we pretend to ignore it, its always prevalent. At school, at work, at church, everywhere people gather together. I always wondered who chooses the "popular" people because almost always people don't like them . Everyone just pretends to like them to hang out with them and get a reputation, but who honestly cares about your reputation when your reputation is only temporary? Character is what counts, as cliche as it is, that's all that matters.

I had my own inner battle with reputation vs character. I really really wanted to get nominated for homecoming queen. Like so bad. I told all the seniors that I knew to vote for me and casey. I knew I shouldn't get my hopes up, one of my major flaws. The results sounded like they were gonna sway in my favor. But that friday during conference, my name wasn't announced. It killed me because I knew it was because I'm not "popular" enough. Everyone told me it was no big deal, but to me it was. Even worse, I found out I lost by one vote, :(.

But now as I sit here in american gov I'm realizing the people that did vote for me, voted for me not because of popularity obviously, but for my character because they like me for that. And that feels so much better :)

i know i've never met you, but emily is my best friend too, haha :)

and i love this! and i'm proud of you for realizing you are bigger and better than them. and one vote just goes to show your character did matter and people saw that in you. so way to go :)

i'm rachel by the way. nice to meet you.
