Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift is my favorite singer, hands down. Obviously the Beatles and the Beach Boys do up her, but anyways. Taylor Swift isn't some incredible muscian whose lyrics will transcend generations and whose music will hit me hard, but she's real, she's like me. Lately I've found a lot of artists who truly do touch me and speak to me for other reasons, but they aren't her. She's a teenage girl who has experienced boys and heartbreak and true love and wants a fairytale happy ending. That's me. I know I will endure a lot of criticism, but honestly each one of her songs relates to me and isn't that what a good artist is supposed to do? Years from now I'll still be listening to the Beatles and the Beach Boys and such, but I probably won't be listening to her anymore because by then, I will have moved on and that will be because of the truth she speaks in her lyrics. I won't need to lean on her anymore. It's so stupid, but if there was one person besides Rachel Dawson that I could meet right now, it would be her. I would ask her how she made it through the days when all she wanted was him knowing that it was probably the stupidest desire in the world and how she got over those guys she thought she'd be with forever. Because right now, that's all I need to hear and I haven't heard one person give me a solid answer how.

Taylor Swift was there with me on the drive home from work when I knew in one hour I would be single. (Love Story) She was there that week when I didn't sleep and all I did was cry. (Breathe) She was there when I trusted you again and got hurt. (White Horse) She was there when I decided I had to be with you and not him. (The Way I Loved You)

Her second album Fearless is incredible to my standards and the standards of Newsday and Rolling Stone. She gets me, end of story.

P.S. Today was amazing. Straight A's on the progress report. Made Mini-town counselor. I have the best friends on the planet and the best Mama Bear. :) Tomorrow should only be better.
